Guys, I REALLY need some help. I am out of ideas

A little background first. Rebuilt the engine this winter. Put it in and took it on a 400 mile round trip to the dyno. Put down 392 at the wheels, and broke a rocker stud halfway home. Just to be safe, we pulled the engine back out, changed the oilpan, and changed rockers and pushrods to fix the rocker stud problem.

I put the engine back in and finished up with the reinstall this past Sunday. On the way home on the maiden voyage with the engine back in, I ate a belt. No biggie, thought it was because it was a old belt. Bought a new one, and ate it as soon as I hit the highway. Tapped and Helicoiled the tensioner pulley as that was getting weak and I thought it may let the pulley move enough to ruin the belts. Put on a new belt and went about 8 miles. Stopped and check and sure enough it was walking off the crank hub toward the front of the car, and the power steering pulley was walking toward the front of the car too.

Replaced the crank hub, as it had a slight wobble in it. Put a belt on it, and drove it tonight. Once again, anything above 4 grand and it eats the belt and walks it off the crank pulley.

I dont know what else it can be. The accesories all install one way only, and they are all tight. I am out of ideas...can anyone shed some light on this??? Am I just missing something simple? I have double checked the pulleys and all seem to be in line and tight. I'm ready to throw the cover on this thing and be done with it till winter again

Check to make sure every thing is lined up. Make sure your Tensioner is square.

Looking down the side of the engine and from the bottom side everything appears to be right. As for the tensioner, I dont see anyway for it not to be square. It is tight and firm, and both bolts held fast.

Just a theory here.Possibly your tensioner spring isnt holding enough pressure.Cant imagine it would be too much dinero.

I agree, shouldnt be too much. My only hang up is that it worked fine when I pulled the engine out the second time. Now it suddenly wont work. Just dont add up. But your probably right, that is more then likely the next thing to replace.

When you R&R the engine you removed the belt.Stretching the tensioner spring all the way.Maybe the spring sprung...Good luck.
