Help stuck in Lafayette... Freescan info!!!
Holding the pedal to the floor puts the pcm in "clear flood mode". It disables the injectors and because the butterfly in the TB is wide open, it lets in the max amount of air. This gives the plugs a chance to clear out any excess fuel. Once the engine begins to fire, your going to let off on the pedal anyway and things return to normal operation.
If you are getting no spark (you might try pulling a plug and sticking it on the end of a wire and grounding the plug's metal body to be sure), there is a test you can do to see if you are getting pulses from the opti to the coil. (that is, if you have enough tools available)
[edit] I forgot you said you had fire at the coil. JDBlaze85 would be right. Looks like at least cap and rotor (secondary ignition side).

i gotta question for ya Shoebox
Do you know how to check the pulse that fires the coil off? at the coil itself. theres always 12V in one prong and the other is the negative. Do you use a test light on the negative terminal of the coil.......or a voltmeter?
HEI chevy and Ford?

If you need some help give me a call. I live near Lafayette and have a shop in Lafayette. I might be able to help you out. I even have a spare opti that could sell you to get you back going. I was keeping it for a spare but if you are in a bind. Call me Clint 337-298-8161 Clint. Later and goodluck.
