I have a 94 T/A and I have been hearing a strange noise ...It dose not make any noise at idle or when reved in park....The noise only happens when there is a load on the engine in gear,but the noise is not always there it comes and goes..When the noise is there it increases with engine speed and gose away as less load is on the engine...I have checked rocker adjustment,I only use 93 octane gas because I have a tune so I dont think its pinging,but it kinda sounds like that...Oh and I first noticed this noise after I was running my car and got a code for a bad mass sensor,but I got a new maf so I dont know if that matters I did do some high rpm runs while this code was being thrown I didnt think it was as serious as the maf....PLEASE help Ive checked everything.... THANKS GUYS OH and I know its not an exhaust leak the noise was there before and after header install... SORRY FOR THE BOOK.

Well it does not sound like it but check the flywheel.
It might have a crack somewhere.

I also thought it might be the flywheel but since it did not make the noise all the time I ruled it out,but I looked anyway and found the problem,my starter is wore out and when I get on the car hard the plunger slids into the flywheel causing the noise....Im so happy to have found the problem Ive been searching for a while...So thanks alot... By the way now I need a starter

 

glad to here you found the problem.
You might want to put a LT4 starter in since your replaceing it.
And it sounds good too.
