HELP! It runs, but isn't oil supposed to squirt out of the pushrods???

95 LT1 engine. Just got the engine back together after a head port job, new cam, headers and big throttle body. (it sounds really cool. I started it last night for the first time since the build, and it popped right off. I got oil pressure right away, and I started to bleed the cooling system. I ran it for about 15 minutes or so, then pulled the filler cap to see how much oil lubed the top end.

There was a little bit of oil along the low side of the head, and the rockers and valves (the two I could see) looked dry???

Does this sound right?? SHouldn't there be a lot of oil on the rocker tops???

I am hesitant to take a road trip until I am sure the thing is working right. HELP! (because i want to drive it like i stole it!)

Mine was the same way,if you have the valve cover off and rev it though you will see oil shoot off rocker arms.Gm didnt see the point in running high pressure oil pumps in its lt1's as the idle pressure can be in the range of 20-40 psi.I installed a high volume pump in mine and it idles around 50 psi and does squirt at idle.Im sure you are getting oil just not the amount your accustomed to seeing in an old school gm 350,its not really nessacery as the engine only needs 10 psi per thousand rpm to stay healthy.

Thanks Bro; exactly right you are. I checked again when running, and it gushes. Phew.

This little 88 rx7 convertible is gonna rock! I think, after my lt1 edit tune, i shoud be in the 400+ flywheel hp range! Sweet!
