Help replacing wp seal on the timing cover
I took a picture of what I used. Be sure to oil up the seal, marker, and wp drive shaft. Be sure the marker is completely flush with the wp drive gear. Keep pressure on the marker when sliding the seal onto the wp drive shaft. The marker is self centering. I made sure to get the name of the marker in the picture so you know which one to buy.
Don't saw into any of the gray part. Just cut off the colored tip.

Thanks for the picture Eric.
I got the right type of sharpie now.
But I still don't know how the seal looks when it's on.

That is the rear of the seal when I put it on does it stay like that.
see how it is faceing the engine now.
When I put it on and riped the seal the inside lip went towards the front of the engine.
I hope somebody can explain how this seal sits this for me because I'm not going to break another 10 dollar seal.
thanks,
chris

I tried looking at that and using a socket. I was too scared that it would rip the seal. The marker is tapered and the end is right on top of the size of the wp drive shaft.

OK I'm still lost on the seal.
See how the seal lip faces the engine If I turn the seal around the right way?
Now when I installed the seal that riped on me the lip bent out.
Is it saprose to bend out or stay the same shape that it is now.
Thanks,
Chris

OK I got the right type of sharpie lubed it put the seal on and the sharpie does not fit on the shaft I tried to tap in on but it did not go on straight and it cut the seal again.
I'm so tired of this thing I only slept 4 hours last night and the only thing in the way of driving my car is this on seal.
I'm about ready to go postal.
I mean dam the next thing thats going to happen is I will get it all together and there will be a hole in the radiator from all the tapping on this seal trying to get it to sit right.
This is by far the most frustrating I have had to do on this car.
It sould be very simple but it's not.

It's not that hard to do.
Just keep pressure on the sharpie and push the seal towards the shaft. When pushing the seal onto the shaft, look on the back side of the seal and if its starting to bend inwards, stop and start all over. I used the same size sharpie as the one posted above and had no problems.

You got a sharpie super twin tip and cut off the fine tip? Just like in my picture? I suppose it's possible that they changed the design....but if they didn't..... it should work the way I described.
OK to make a long story short I had somebody come by and put it on.
They used the water pump cupping to get it on.
Looks right and did not rip like the two I tried to put on.
Now I seam to be missing the O ring on the water pump shaft.
Does any body know what size it?
I can get it at the parts store by me.
Thanks,
chris

Eric I got the bigger round sharpie I did not see your post before I went to the store.
The cover on the sharpie was just a hair too small thats why I would guess the seal riped on me.

OK so I used one of the old opt spark o rings on the water pump cupping.
I just use it on the engine side because it went on very tight and I'm afraid if I put one on the water pump side I will have a problem taking the water pump off if I ever have too.

If you over-stretch the seal just a little it will go on then shrink back to where it was and be fine.
