Help! Replacing my LT1 in my 97Z28

I need to replace the engine in my 97z28.
I have to do it in front of my house.
1 How do I get it the 4 feet up in the air to drop it out the bottom?
When I put the new used engine back in I'm putting my BMR tube K-member
in.
2 How do i put it in without hurting the K-member cant have a jack under that?
3 Is it better easer to take the transmission out with the engine?
I'm replacing the rear maine seal and the exaust manifolds gaskets to be on the safe side don't see any thing wrong with them but better safe than sorry.
4 What other seals or gaskets should I replace? 79,000 miles on the new used engine.
5 Any cheap up grades that sould be done other than new polygraphite engine mounts?
6 Any other help you can give me because this is my first time pulling an engine out of a fourth generation?

I hope somebody can hepl me soon because I am lost and in need of help bad.
Thanks,
Chris G.

Wow its unfortunate you have to perform this kind of operation in front of your home. Ill try to help you out here.

basically you need a cherry picker. Without one you will not be able to move anything. You lift the front of the car up with a cherry picker attached at the shock towers and then in order to transfer the motors, you will need to use it again unless you are Superman. You can drop the motor with the trans attached.. easiest way.

Any body else got any ideas?
Get it up with the engine hoist then use concreat blocks with wood on the top of them so they won't brake.
somebody need to kinda walk me through the deal.
Just on taking it out and puting it in.
what to use and how to do it.
I know your out there.

Thanks

Without a lift, I'd pull it from the top.

I did it from the top..not that bad really. Wire harness... few other wires near the bottom, trans bolts, and motor mounts. Could yank one out in less than a days work easy.

Re: Help! Replacing my LT1 in my 97Z28

in a car thats smashed in the front corner its a PITA but since yours is still in good condithon you wont have to pund body parts away from the motor it shouldnt be to bad
id say first pull the hood off you might not need to do this but its my recomendation drain all the fluids
then go in the car take of the center counsel and pop the shifter off
drop the drive shaft and unbolt the tranny Xmember and mount as well as the cat hanger
unbolt your motor mounts and pull the bolts out (may have to raise engine alittle to do that)
un bolt the y pipe from the manifolds
now your basically done underneath discharge the ac system and pull all the ac pieces out as well as the radiator pull the PCM and disconect it (you may want to take of the the intake and the heads for clearance I would also recomend removing the accesories i believe you have to remove the power steering and ac pump so may as well take off alternator and brakets as well)
then your ready to start liftin up the engine
be very very carefull and you should be alright
i think i covered most of the procedure but please let me know if i missed something

I used two intake bolts.. one in the back passenger side and one on the front drivers. You can also get something called a happy hooker. It will make your life much easier.
