Unhappy Help Removing Starter

94 Z/28 got the starter bolts and 2 wires lose do you have to drop the exhaust to get the starter off. Thanks

you shouldn't have to drop the Y pipe. it takes some man handling, but it should come out of there.

I was able to get mine out towards the front but it took some effort. If you haven't already, disconnect your battery terminal.

definatly disconect your battery. i got mine out as well but it took some time and patience.

I finally got it out but i could not bring it out the front had to bring it out between the exhaust and the transmission lines it was a bitch cant wait to put it back in.

I have dropped the starter both ways, and IMO, the time saved from dropping the y-pipe was well worth it.

The way my exhaust bolts looked i dont believe i could have got them loose without breaking the studs off.

carefully bend your tranny lines a little bit and it will fit thru that hole without a problem if you have it twisted the right way. make damn sure you have the little red wire on the correct small post or the first time you start the car, the starter will stay spinning even if you take the key out. have a friend ready with a 8mm ready to dissconnect the battery the first time you start it.
