Help!! QA-1/Hal Users Inside Please!!
Hey guys...
We got the Fronts and rears installed and we ran into a problem...
After dropping the car, we noticed that the front of the car sits lower then it did when i had the sportlines with the stock shocks..
Honestly, i cant put my hand in between the tire and the top..
so, we took the rim off and tried to adjust the ride height and even with the special bearings i bought, it wouldnt budge AT ALL.
What could have happened to cause this? How hard is it for you guys to adjust the height? What do u do to adjust the height etc...
ANY and ALL help would be apreacited, thanks guys!

I installed my HAL/QA1's at the same time as a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I was extremely careful to put the HAL spring seat + modified stock seat at exactly the same height on the shock as the spring mount on the stock shock. When I got done, the front end had dropped way more than it was supposed to .... about 1.8" rather than the 1.25-1.50" that Eibach states. Way more than I wanted. Can't explain why.
When I assembled everything, I put a coat of anti-sieze on the threads where the adjuster ring seats, at least 1" above and below where I set the seat. Then I put anti-sieze between the stainless steel seat ring and the adjuster ring, and also between the modified stock seat and the stainless seal seat ring (obviously you will not have the modified stock seat, if you are using HAL springs). To adjust the ride height, I jacked the wheel off the ground to relieve some spring pressure, and then turned the adjuster nut with the (overpriced) HAL "spanner" wrench. It took a long time, since I could only get about 1/8 turn on the adjuster nut do to the suspension interference with the spanner wrench. It was difficult to move the spanner... I had a huge blister in the palm of my hand, even though I was using a padded set of Mechanix gloves. But I was able to return the front height to stock while the Eibach's were still on there (I eventually replaced them with HAL springs).
Did you set the spring seat height the same as stock?
Did you put anti-sieze on the threads and seat?
Did you raise the load off the suspension before trying to adjust?
Did you use a "spanner" type wrench?

Were you using the spanner wrench? I was able to adjust mine with just the thrust washer in there (I had put anti seize on both sides). It was not real easy with that short handled spanner wrench and you must pay careful attention to latch it on there well and not slip off. I wore mechanix gloves to protect my hands.
I dunno who installed them, so I don't know how basic to get. You adjust the height by turning the nut on the schock. There's two set screws on that nut, so make sure they aren't tight.
On mine, the tires are acutally up inside the wheel well, but I'm also running 4" wide rims.
