Help!!!! Problem after heads and cam install

Here are the facts, I ported and polished my heads and installed a cc306 cam. I installed new O2 sensors. I also deleted AIR and EGR. Brian from PCM4less wrote a new program which I installed as well (yes he was aware of the egr and air delete). The Problem is that the car is running super and I mean super rich now, Its hard to start without giving it gas, once it starts it starts to load up bad and hitting the throttle shoots a huge cloud of black smoke out the back. It smells really bad and burns your eyes to hell and back.

Another probem is that I'm not sure that the vac lines are hooked up correctly on the opti, my buddy insists that one of them was hooked to the AIR pump, but that is gone so I belive that one of the vac lines isn't hooked up to anything. He suggested that maybe they had something to do with retard and advance and that is why the car is running so rich.

I checked my haynes manual and couldn't find anything on those those vac lines. I also looked at an install guide I found searching here, but they didnt mention them either.

Any ideas would be greatly appriciated

Thanks in advance

Aaron

The hoses on the opti go to the intake elbow and intake manifold, not the AIR pump.

Do they have anything to do with advance/retard?

All your advance is controlled by the PCM, those lines do nothing more than circulate fresh air through the opti.

Make sure all your rockers are adjusted correctly and that the cam is installed with the dots lined up EXACTLY. If you have a throttle body airfoil take it off, sometimes it plugs up the IAC valve and makes the car run rich at idle.

Ok, found this thread.

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...e&pagenumber=1

This guy had some of the same problems that I am having, luckily I haven't driven it to foul the plugs yet

I am sure the tune is dead on, but Im still gonna run free scan and have brian look it over, just to be safe. If nothing else, maybe it will help diagnose the problem.

Tomorow morning I am

1) removing Airfoil
2) double checking for vacume leaks
3) deleting my iat relocator (a thread or 2 suggested it may lead to the car running rich)
4) double check for exhuast leaks

can anyone think of anything else?

Unhappy

Not getting much help here : (

Anyway, I

1) Deleted the IAT relocator
2) Removed the airfoil
3) checked for vacume leaks
4) went back to my old O2 sensors

car is still running extremely rich, it only does it after the car has been running a few minutes.

Data master pulled a bad MAF code which I was reasonably certain was the problem, but now I'm not so sure becuase I unplugged the maf earlier to see if it made a differance, the code could have just been stored.

if anyone wants to see the datamaster log, I'll need to email it to you. I don't have anywhere to host it from.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, but I'm running out of ideas. any help would be much appriciated.

Sounds similar to a problem I've been having. I've changed/swapped/replaced/tested everything and can't find an issue. My only advice is start with the basics; ignition, fuel, air, and work from there.

are you sucking fuel thru a ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm?

Check the vac line like grumpy says and see if it's wet. If it is not.

Put a fuel pressure gage on the rails. Check the fuel pressure when the problem occurs. See what happens to fuel pressure when you shut it down. Is there fuel in the oil? See what the injector pulse width is.

If that doesn't show anything, Does your problem occur before or after closed loop?

I'd vote for your new O2 sensors being the problem. The quote above makes me think that the issue is when your in closed loop. This threads concensus is that the issue is probably O2 related. I thought running rich/crappy gas milage could also be attributed to O2's. I had a pickup that went all gutless and started getting sh*tty gas mileage. Replaced O2s and POW! BAM! BOOM! I could drive up hills again.

Try sticking your old O2 (and the factory harness) back in. Nothing else you have done (except PCM programming) really seems to have much risk of causing the rich condition your having. Especially given that it looks like your only getting the issue in closed loop.

Good luck!!

I'm assuming your talking about temps, there are two one called engine coolant temp which is sitting at 38 c and moving, and one that reads engine oil temp at - 36.8 c that one is not moving. I think we may be on to something.
