much power lost from exhaust leak??

with a lot of help i installed a set of rksport headers in my 94 Z. anyways i have a leak at the egr hose where it attaches to the passenger side header. is it reasonable to expect to be losing a small to fair amount of power from the leak??

if it was a leak near the rear of your exhaust, i wouldn't worry about it. but you don't want leaks up near the exhaust manifold. i'd say you're loosing a pretty nice chunk of power, plus its just annoying. try retightening the bolts.... anyone else?

when i was removing the egr bolt it broke, so when i put everything back together i had to throw in a random bolt and nut i had laying around. it won't tighten enough to seal it and i can't seem to loosen it. i bought a new bolt to replace it. i will just have to cut it off tomorrow.

You are probably losing some power. Leaks ahead of the 02 sensors cause the sensors to see a false lean condition due to oxygen intrusion. The computer adjusts for the lean condition by dumping more fuel in. Since the leak is only on one side, you have a rich condition on one side only. You need to plug the leak.

Also, your knock sensor will probably pick it up and you'll see power loss due to retard
