Re: Help please

I have a blue point obd 1 and 2 scanner but it will not connect. I used the paper clip a couple weeks ago and it coded 41 I looked it up and seems to be an ignition fault but its firing and I also changed the ignition mod , coil , ignition switch under the dash and had the key checked. I kind of think its in the switch because when it quit, it didnt just quit I pull in the gas station and when I cut the car off it kind of started missing and then it died and hasnt fire yet, but that doesnt make sense that its firing now and wont run on starting fluid.

Re: Help please

A 41 is the IC circuit from the ECM to the ICM. Better look again at most of the plugs to see if they actually have spark. A big spark. A 41 is an open circuit. Look at the white wire on the ICM and at the ECM end as well.

Re: Help please

I will ck it along with everything else 1 more time, do you know if the white wire is a signal, voltage or ground?

Re: Help please

The white wire is the trigger to the ICM. To confirm it's signal you use the AC setting of the VOM and look for 1 to 4 volts. But yours is open, or at least intermittent. So ohm it from one end to the other while wiggling it would make more sense.

Re: Help please

I had the EXACT problem with my '93 Z and it was the ECM. Check for signal from the ECM
to the OPTI. I had mine rebuilt, as they are no longer available.

Re: Help please

There is no signal sent from the ECM to the Opti. The Opti sends the cam postion signal to the ECM. The ECM sends the signal to fire the coil to the ICM.
