Help Please

This morning i went to start my 1993 Camaro z-28 and it would not start. when i turn the key i hear a click i am assuming thats from the starter. can anyone give me any help as to what this problem could be? I was thinking fuel pump, starter, or maybe even the distributor because I know they have a tendency to go bad on this car due to poor design. Any insight is greatly appreciated

I would start with the battery. When you turn the key on. What does the Battery Voltage read? If the battery is low it will not start. You need alot of cranking power to turn the Starter to crank the motor. So I would start with the battery.

Do your headlights work? It may be bad connection(s) check both the terminals and the wires. Most cases=bad batteries. JMHO

Alarms and lights have a current draw ranging from a fraction of an amp to 30 amps. The starter pulls several hundred amps to start the engine. A battery strong enough to power the alarm and lights might not be able to supply the amperage required to start the engine. Could be a weak battery, could be faulty/corroded main cables and battery terminals, or a dead starter/solenoid.

You have to rule out the battery first.

I would take the battery to Autozone and get it tested just to make sure. It sounds like your Starter has Failed. However a click means not enough power. To me it sounds like a starter.

If your battery is close to or past the expiration date or is completely drained and needs a charge then my quess is that it is your battery.

I'll bet. Anyway let us know.JMHO
