Re: EGR? Trouble code #32

Most likely the EGR soleniod or the EGR valve. Does it come on all the time or intermittently?

Re: EGR? Trouble code #32

DTC 32 sets when the PCM doesn't see the required change in MAP when it cycles the EGR system. Leaky vacuum hose, faulty EGR valve, system plugged with carbon, or extremely low exhaust system back pressure. The solenoid has its own code (DTC 27).

Re: EGR? Trouble code #32

As far as extremly low back pressure I have just Borla catback with no plate in. With no headers or y pipe yet. So i dont think I have really low backpressure. The SES light comes on everytime I drive it it seems like it comes on when i am on the highway and just coasting.

Re: EGR? Trouble code #32

Getting the code for a low backpressure exhaust is more a problem with the OBD-II (96/97) cars. The diagnostic in OBD-II is very sensitive. But its unusual for the OBD-I cars to set the EGR code, even when you delete the system. Maybe 10% of the OBD-I cars show a code for deletion.

I also have code 32 coming on intermitently, I have a high flow exhaust with no cat. Would this cause a problem with fuel mileage? I seem to have very poor fuel economy and I don't drive the car very hard either!

Can someone post a pic of the bottom of an egr valve? I have an egr valve for an older Trans Am that I used to own, just need to match it up with the valve on the Camaro.

Would an EGR valve from a non-LT1 V8 from the same year fit?

The valve will have to match up to this pattern. The EGR fits on the left, the bottom hole is the EGR valve pintle:
