HELP with Melling oil pickup

I purchased a Melling 10554 from Summit and a pick up tube. When the tube came it was a bolt on type and so it won't hook up to the pump. Summit said they don't stock the press in ones. Anyone know where I can get one asap???

You tell me. Does it look like it would press in like the stock pickup?

It looks like it should. In fact I would use the one from the pump I took out except that someone spot welded it in.

ill be honest summit techs know dick and the customer service reps know alot less. are you sure it doesnt just have a support bracket that bolts to the housing and the pickup is still a press on? i know thats how mine is.

I thought about that but there aren't any bolt holes in the housing for it to bolt to. It is a press in one and when I called Summit the guy had to call Melling to find out which pick up went to it and then told me they didn't stock it but if I was willing to wait 3 - 5 days they could get it. I just called Jegs and they had one and said they will have it to me tomorrow.

Here is what i used

Oil Pump GM 93442037 74.79
Oil Pump Shaft ARP 134-7901
Pickup GM 12550042 10.86
White Spring GM 3848911 2.32
Oil Pump Drive Assembly GM 1103868 42.73

Works great 60lbs on cold start, 25lbs when hot, its the Melling select, i bought it from GM Parts Direct, if you are changing your pump, you might want to think about changing the Oil Pump Drive if you have a lot of miles on it

I pulled the oil pump drive and it looks hardly worn and the motor only has about 10,000 on it since the rebuild.

I got it yesterday and installed it and it is working like a champ!! Borrowed a priming tool from Auto Zone and primed it - didn't take too long and now it runs about 60 - 65 at idle when cold.
