For the last month or so my starter was acting wierd, it would start when the engine was cold with no prob. but once it was warmed up it wouldnt do anything but click, i talked to a few ppl and they said it was probably getting hot from my shorty headers, so i pulled it off the take a look and the drain hole on the bottom of the starter was plugged with crap so i cleaned it up, inside and out, i put it back on and the starter motor just spins, i got under and looked at it and had someone turn the key and it pushed the gear into the flywheel, it sounded like it was spinning inside the starter but it didnt turn the flywheel,

anyone have any ideas? there is a car show tonight and my car is stuck in the garage on stands

If you hear the starter motor whirring and the gear is engaged in the flywheel but not turning, it sounds like time to replace the starter.
