Re: help me pick a cam for 385 stroker

I'm going with one of the new Comp XFI cams for my new LT 396 stroker. 242 Int/248 Ext at .050 and .584 Int/.579 Ext lift w/ 1.6 RRs. It is the largest XFI LT cam and it has a range of 2200 to 6200, which should be perfect for the stroker.

Additionally, the cam must be a custom grind on a small base circle for the stroker. The Comp core # is 07-000-8 and small base circle grind is #3018/3039 HR113+4. I ordered my cam through Jeg's.

I'm also using AFR LT4 heads and will have about 12.1 to 1 compression and will use PCMforLess programming. I'm also expecting low 11s all N/A.

I would just go with a custom cam that is matched to your heads. Only way to do it IMHO. I think you can talk to Joe Overton or Bret Buarer about custom cams. Its only like 100 bucks more to go custom and that is the only way to get your full potential out of your setup.
