Angry Help me pass SMOG.......

I am having problems passing smog. First they said the EGR needed to be replaced, so I got it replaced and now the're saying that my car idles too high. The guy at the shop said that it idles at 1345rpm and it should be at 1000rpm. The test can't be performed (according to the guy at the shop) unless the car is at 1000rpm. He also said that my engine could possibly suck in a valve and damaged the internals if it continues to idle too high. Is this true?? What do you guys think could cause my car too idle so high??

TIA

maybe your idle position sensor is bad.its located on the throttle body.before you go in to the test again get your car freescan or run datamaster.those programs are great for telling you how your car is running down to the sensors

Would bad O2 sensors cause my car to idle high and fail SMOG... I know there is a way to measure if the O2 sensors are working properly, can anyone tell me how. Also will my car hurt the engine internals from idleing so high???

TIA

You're not going to suck in any valves... slap the guy who said that. It could be the IAC, could be a vacumn leak, sticky throttle, bad TPS, etc.
