Help me build the ultimate LT1 top end set up
Help me build the ultimate LT1 top end set up
Hey guys, i know a lot of you out there have gone the Heads/ Cam route. I have already decided to have Lloyd Elliott port a set of stock LT1 heads for me. But i really do not know a whole lot about internals on these engines. Would any of you be willing to take the time to help me build the ultimate LS1 killer, LT1 top end package. Tell me what i need to have Lloyd do to the heads, what cam? what rockers? what springs? what valves? what compression? all that ****. I dont know crap but here are my goals
i want 400 RWHP minimum, i would like a head that flows as close to 270 or above as possible at .500 lift and maintains it up past .550 ( a .600 lift cam might be too big??? ) on the intake side. I really dont know about the exhaust side, someone fill me in. I want the largest cam i can get that still maintains driveablity and descent gas milelage considering the power. Emissions are not a concern. I really want to shut some of the LS1 crowd up, so i am thinking more of a top end cam, but one where i dont lose all of my TQ. I want to pull!!!
My Z28 is an M6 and has only 25k miles on the clock. Thanks for any feedback. I am in no hurry to do this, i want to do it right with the best stuff. Thanks

This set up will get you ~400 rwhp.
224/230(or larger, I just heard this cam is driveable and can put out some power...can go with bigger though 230/236) custom cam kit from combination motorsports, Gold RR's, ported heads and intake from Lloyd(I am gonna have him port mine SOON!!), larger valves, cai, 52 mm tb, LT's, X pipe dual exhuast(since your not worried about emmissions...dump em'), custom mail order tune or dyno tune(I'm going with pcmforless.com). As far as intake/exhaust numbers...I would say anywhere in the 270's/190's. Not always is bigger better. This whole project is very expensive and time consuming...I am about done with it...just have to get my heads to Lloyd. From the research I've done on the board, those are what had to be done to achieve ~400 rwhp. You can do other things like electric water pump, tb bypass, msd, larger wires and new plugs(given), NOS, or a blower as well...you decide. Plus you have a m6, so it will work to your advantage...after all is said and done get a good clutch and some 3.73's or some 4.10's.
