Angry HELP! Jet Hot install problems...

I had ordered Jet Hot's with the AIR connections, and the stock AIR fittings dont seem to fit AT ALL! The tube on the headers is too big for the AIR to thread into it. Is there a piece I'm missing? I know now that I should have just deleted the AIR all together, but I just wanted to keep everything simple for now and not throw any codes.

Any help is apreciated ASAP

I have the exact same headers as you....I hope I don't have the same problem when I install them. Guess I'd better check tonight.

On to your problem...I'd heard of scenarios where an adapter had to be used to get the AIR tube hooked up with the Jet-Hot LTs. I mentioned this to Chris @ Jet-Hot (800-432-3379 x110) and he told me that it is uncommon but does happen. If I remember correctly he told me what was needed to fix the problem but I can't remember. You might call him or perhaps someone will respond to this thread that has delt with this exact problem.

Maybe a brass fitting from Home Depot's plumbing department will serve as an adapter? I dunno, just a thought for you.

I called Jet Hot this morning. Apparently an ongoing problem that they have just realized is that the AIR tube fitting on the headers is an 22mm fitting. Some of the 97 and 96 cars came with a 18mm AIR fitting that obviously will not fit into the AIR on the headers. he said either to order the fitting for 95 cars or try and find an adapter at a harware store.

Thanks for the response, if i figure this out, ill let you know

Ran into this same problem with our Jet-Hot LT's install.

Found the adapters needed here:

http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/maljictomalm.html

You need two (2) 816MM-10-22 Male JIC To Male Metric fiitings.

Worked like a champ and the guys there are very helpful.

Tried the Home Depot but couldn't find a permanent fix adapter there.

Good luck!

yes...I got mine from Sears Hardware, it's a copper fitting double male thread two different sizes. I wish I'd written down and posted the size I bought but I didn't. Do a search on the jethot air fittings here. Seems like it was a 17mm thread and I forget the thread count. But Sears definitely has this fitting. I also used a little bit of JB weld as a form of LocTite because it was a bit of a wierd fitting, I wanted to make sure it sealed.

Well, I got around to checking the existing fitting on my '96. I'm definitely going to need two of those 816MM-10-22 adapters from www.fittingsandadapters.com before I do my LT install. Thanks for posting that info Houston_Z_Man!

Just so everyone knows, if you order a pair of Jet-Hot LTs with emissions hookups for your 96-97 f-body you will most likely have to purchase the above mentioned adapters to hook up your AIR tubes. The adapters work PERFECTLY and with shipping it's roughly $20 for both adapters to your door. The adapter has metric threads on one side - something you can't find at Home Depot, Ace True Value, etc. Just thought I'd post this to help pass the information along.

Thanks go to Houston_Z_Man for posting this information originally.
