Help: How do you Bleed Fuel Lines?

Exactly as the title says. I don't know how to bleed the air out the fuel lines so my car will start. All it does now is turn but it won't start. Was starting fine before; then I ran out of gas and left the lights on, so the battery also died. I added gas and jumped the battery but it just won't start. I searched google and the message board. Even a "Fuel Bleeding" step by step for any car would be excellent.

I think you just have to prime the system. Turn your key into the 'ON' position and you should hear your fuel pump. Do that a few times and it should start up.

If you don't hear the pump, probably needs replacing.

There should be no bleeding required. Just pressurize the system.

Re: Help: How do you Bleed Fuel Lines?

As someone else mentioned. To pressurize the system just turn the key to the on position without trying to start the car. Let the pump run for a few seconds and you'll notice it pressurizing. The pump will run hard at first then slowly come to a stop when the lines have full pressure. Then turn the car over and it should start up. If you hear nothing when turning the key forward the pump is probably shot(the exact same thing happened to me a couple months back, my pump was going out already though). I accidentally ran out of gas and the pump died. Or if it still doesn't start but the pump is running then maybe a filter change is in order. You may have sucked some crap up into it from the bottom of the tank and it's not allowing enough fuel to flow past it. An $8 part and about 15 minutes to swap. It's on the drivers side inside the frame rail and resembles the size of a mini coke can. Another thought would be to make sure your fuel is going all the way up to the engine and the fuel rails. At the rear of the intake there's a little plastic screw on cover that screws over the shrader valve. Take that off and then use a screwdriver, nail, car key whatever will fit into the end of the valve. Turn the key to the on position without cranking and push that little valve in with what your using. If gas spurts out, you have fuel pressure. If air spurts out, you obviously don't and it's probably your pump.

If you can turn the key ON, you have it licked. For a car that has had a lot of fuel let out of the lines, it might take a few sequences of:
turn key ON-pump will run 2 seconds and then shut off
turn key OFF for 8-10 seconds
repeat
