help header install

i know everybody and their mother posts about this, but i am having problems snapping the bolts connecting the flanges of the manifolds to the stock y pipe, how to i get the bolts to a) stop snapping and b) how do i get the y pipe off of the manifolds now so i cna get to the manifold bolts?

what size wrench are the o2 sensors?

Also how do i get the egr and air off because the headers i have dont have hook ups for them

Re: help header install

Why worry about snapping the bolts holding the Y-pipe to the stock manifolds? You're going to throw the manifolds in the trash when you install the headers.

Re: help header install

If the heads of the bolts snap off it's no big deal as the ypipe will come off anyways.

If you want to make it a little easier on yourself anyways, just soak them in PB blaster overnight.

I just use an impact gun with an extension on them where it fits.

Re: help header install

Like the other guy said i'd put some Pb blaster on them. I used it on mine but i think all them snapped off but one. However i would defiently use pb blaster on the other header bolts because you dont want one of those breaking off.

Yes, use PB Blaster on everything. Each of the 3 bolts conecting the Y pipe to each manifold, all 6 bolts connecting each manifold to the head, and on the AIR and EGR fittings on the manifolds.

I can't remember exactly what size the o2 sensors are, mayb 3/4"... Just use PB Blaster and your life will be much easier.

Yep, yet another advocate right here for PB Blaster. I soaked all of the old hardware for a few days before putting a wrench on anything and everything came apart easily and nicely.

PB blaster was a gift from god he gave it to Jesus the first time he had to remove the water pump on his LT1 Camaro

If Jesus really had a pipe to God, then he should have asked for a direct opti replacement, too.
