Help with fuel line disconnects?
If you have an Autozone or Pep Boys go and get the metal tool. This tool has both the small and big end on it and its so much easier to use than the plastic ones. I can have the fuel rails off the car in seconds when I would wrestle with the plastic ones as you say. It has been one investment that I am happy with
Does anyone know what size tool to use? I am pretty sure I'm using a 3/8" disconnect. It looks like the send and return are two different sizes. I have a 3/8" and a 5/16" tool. I still haven't got it after fighting with it again. I called AutoZone about the metal tool BTW and they didn't have them.

3/8 for the pressure line and 5/16 for the return line. I had no trouble with the Lisle tool. A little straight out, twisting motion helped. You should be able to feel when you push the tool inward toward the line and it engages. Then you pull and twist. Come straight out with it, so you don't break any of the little metal clips inside the fitting.

when I had to take them off for the first time I was putting the tool on the wrong side. peel back the black cover and put the tool in facing the driver's side of the car. I was doing it backwards and pushing toward the passenger's side...obviously I was just pushing on a casing.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing the pressure line is the one going to the FPR, right? Well I tried what you guys said, and this this thing still won't budge. I've twisted and pulled and cussed and tried everything. I don't think I'm missing something, I've been working on cars for awhile, and I'm no stranger to tools (even though I've never used these fuel line tools before). Is there any chance they could just be stuck?

Killerjello's advice is good. Push the connector inward and then push the tool into the connector. While holding the tool against the connector, twist gently and pull outward on the connector. Some people just have sticky ones.
Thanks again for your help. I've tried both 3/8 and 5/16 on both lines, since that's the only tools I have in the kit I bought. It has both AC and fuel line tools in it. I am pretty sure I used a 3/8 on the most rear line (the return line) and it popped right off. Now, I just can't get that damn front on off for the life of me.
sorry to drag this thread back up...but I was messing with my fuel line (the one that feeds the rails) the other day and the line came off the connector, i didnt even use the tool or anything, anybody got a schematic of how this thing actually goes together, 2 o-rings and some other connector looking thing all popped out, so needless to say i have no idea how it goes back together...anyways, schematic anyone?? THanks
