Help, engine died and will no longer start.
I was going down the road and my car backfired really loud, now my car will no longer start. The car tries to start normally but the engine will not turn over. Could anyone help me out here, I inspected under the hood and could not find out what is wrong with it. I filled my car up earlier that day so maybe I could have bad gas?

Use the fuel pressure gauge to make sure the fuel rail has pressure
Use the noid light to check for injector pulse
Use the spark tester to make sure the plugs are firing
If you have all 3 of these "ingrediants", it should run.
Is there a SES light?

I have the same problem. I have replaced the Opti, spark plugs, fuel pump, still have the same problem. Opti cable, coil, module, and ecm have been ruled out ( these were swapped out of a running car). Still won't start. I have spark because it backfired once. All it does is turn over and stumble when you let off the key. Help please.

I had a 94 LT1 that left me stranded once. Turned out to be the crank trigger that fires the opti.
I've heard that is a common problem with that Gen Engine.

In 1997 OBDII cars were equiped with a crank position sensor. That is why 1997 cars use a different timing cover than other years.
I'm guessing you were refering to the cam position sensor within the opti when you refered to a "crank trigger"?
Re: Help, engine died and will no longer start.
Turned out it was the coil wire. The coil is corroded so bad the wire is slipping off. When I checked the wire it looked fine so I didn't mess with it but unless the wire is firmly placed on the coil it won't work. I have a new coil on the way and I need to figure out how long of a wire I need for the coil. I think the stock coil wire will be fine for a while, it is just the coil is falling apart.
