help with dtc's
help with dtc's
hey guy's need some help, was driving my 97 t/a today and it started running rough and my ses light started flashing,so i drove my car home and put the scanner on it and here's what i've got.
dtc 171 bank 1 lean
dtc 174 bank 2 lean
dtc 300 misfire
dtc 400 egr
my question is do you think this is an optispark problem,I replaced the original one with over 100,000 miles about 4,000 miles ago.
Car seemed to be running on 6 or 7 cylinders so I don't think its the plugs and the wires look o.k. any help would be appreciated. thanks

well if you got a lean code chances are you computer tried to compensate buy dumping a lot of fuel into your engine which could very easily fowled out your plugs.
as far as your codes it could be any number of things.

yes that makes sense and the car did smell of fuel when I got it home, now the question is what made the computer dump extra fuel.
I have no codes for the o2 sensors. thanks for the reply sl2racer

i didn't even think about the coolant temp sensor being bad, after you said about the computer dumping more fuel I thought it might be the o2 sensors.I did freeze frame on my scanner and it said coolant temp 206 when the dts were set so its probably good.
I would bet on the o2,do you know what a good one ohm's at?
