i need help chossing gears for my 1997 camaro z28 lt1 6 speed.
i was thinking of 3.73 gears? any suggestions?

also im having hard time finding the right gears that would fit my car if anyone knoes the specifications of the gears im running stock as of now.

I would personally recommend the 4.11's.

All 1994-2002 4th Gen F-Bodies with the T56 6-speed manual trans left the factory w/ 3.42:1 rear axle ratio. You can confirm this by looking for the RPO code GU6 on the service parts code tag in the glove box or on the end of the driver's door. Here's more info about your trans and the gears:

The rear axle assembly is a GM 7.625" 10-bolt. You will need the gear set, install kit, gear lube and GM limited slip differential additive. Self install not recommended unless you have the required tools like a magnetic dial indicator, pinion depth checker, and inch-pound torque wrench.

You'll also need to have your pcm reprogrammed for whatever gear set you install and I would also vote 4.10's or 4.30's with a m6.

i dont have the rpo codes to see if i have a 2 series or 3 series gears .. anyone know with gears ill have 97 lt1 6speed t56?

Thought that was clear in the earlier post. 3-series carrier.

That assumes a previous owner did not already change the gear ratio.

M6 = Manual 6-speed transmission = T56 made by Borg Warner and later Tremec. = the transmission in your car.
