Angry help! cc306 cam install

I'm installing a Comp cc306 cam in my '95 Z28(OBD1) the dial pin in the end of the cam is longer and looks like a smaller diameter than the dial pin in my stock cam. I called Comp to see if I got the wrong cam. Comp said that they only make one cc306 cam for '93-'97 lt1s. Will the pin size efect any thing? Do I need the pin cut, machined or what? No one seams to be able to give me a good anser. Thanx!!!

By the way this is my first time to open a motor so any other tips or suggestions yall got send'em my way.

There is a difference in the 93-95 and 96-97 cam dowel lengths. I believe that this is due to the existance of the crank position sensor on the later models (or maybe the vented opti). I have only seen mine (95 no PCS) so I don't know which one you have, but I'm sure someone around here can answer that, so hopefully someone else will be able to help more than I can.

not a big deal.. just cut or grind the dowel pin down to match the stock cam.
