Help With 94 Z28
Hey I just got a 94 Z28 going on about 3 months and thought it would be a good idea to come on here for help with a couple things. I got a tune up with the spark plugs replaced and I also got a new distributor and rotor put in. However, once I did this i noticed my car did drive better, but now my tires keep losing traction. If I floor it under 35-40 it losses traction for about 3-4 seconds, and if I even get near flooring it from a standstill it the back tires will spin really bad and doesn't stop till I ease off the gas. I know my car has a new suspension I have no idea what type, and it was also lowered. It has 275/40/17 Federal tires in the front and 315/35/17 sumitomos in the back. Also I have two more questions. I have a weird device in my arm rest and Iam not sure what it does and the ex owner hasn't replied to me since I bought the car. And there is also a switch that says SAS that I have no Idea what it does. Sorry for asking so many questions at once but I'm new and I'd like to learn more about my car . Thanks for the help !!

Re: Help With 94 Z28
A little more info My car is also a 1994 z28 Lt1 I know that the headers are BBK shorties it says Edelbrock on the part thats connected to the heads. I think its called an intake manifold. Also it has a cold air intake. Besides that and the suspension I am not sure whats new with the car and I am not sure how to go about finding whats all been added, but I would like to. The car repair shop I get it fixed at now doesn't really know alot about my car.
Re: Help With 94 Z28
Hahah I wish it was FatDog. Im really new to..well everything to do with cars and its kinda embarrassing, but I am trying learn more. Its just hard for me apparently. I found one performance type auto repair shop and plan to take it there so they can tell me whats stock and not. But as far as the that button thing in the arm rest I have no idea what that is or the SAS switch. For the traction problem I have no idea what can be causing it since the tires are so big and it has a newer suspension and is lowered. Just wanted to get a good idea on what else can cause it so I can know what type of money i might be spending before i go the auto place that might know more about my car.
Re: Help With 94 Z28
How old are the Sumitomo 315/35-17's? Sounds like they are old and hard as a rock. Tires are date coded.
With regard to the gauge, appears it may have been used to control something like air bags in the rear springs.... hence the "tour" (soft) and "sport" (firm) indications. Red button could activate the compressor to boost pressure, black button could release pressure from the system. Just a guess.
You need to crawl under the car and find out what the suspension looks like. Lowering a 4th Gen, without correcting the angle of the rear lower control arms using LCA relocation brackets, can adversely affect straight line traction. Take photos and we can tell you what you have.
What transmission does the car have? What is the rear axle ratio?

Re: Help With 94 Z28
Also, my car is an auto and I believe something with the drive shaft has been changed or something like that, but I'll take a pic of underneath the car and hopefully I can find out. I dont know how to find the gear ratio too btw. I cant find the sticker thats supposed to tell me, and i dont know if its been changed.
Re: Help With 94 Z28
The left and center pictures are tubular lower control arms. Looks like they point downward toward the chassis mounting end. If that's the case, may be contributing to the poor traction. You want the axle mounting end lower than the chassis mounting end. There are "relocation" brackets available to accomplish that. The right hand picture shows a box section subframe connector (back end of it also shown in the left picture.
