It was a new seal, so I thought that was why it was harder to do.... I bet that's what I did...

If you had to pull it down with the bolts to seat it, probably not in the correct slot.

no I didn't have to pull it down with bolts because I had pushed it in really hard in the wrong spot took it apart made reference in my mind where it should have been put it back together turn the key it didn't crank but a quarter turn and it was running so thank you so much I know that the splined Opti will only go in one way and I guess I just assumed that this was something better but I can attest you can put them in wrong.

No..... it's just as easy for the splined shaft to be indexed incorrectly. While the “odd tooth” would seem to prevent incorrect assembly, about 10% of the people seem to manage to get it wrong. Over the course of 20+ years helping people on sites like this, I've seen it all.

Glad you got it worked out.
