Well, I broke my temp sensor and had it rigged for a few months. It worked but the plug fell off of the sensor occasionally so I replaced it.
Now my gauge doesnt read over 100 , which is as low as it could read. Has anyone had this problem before? I thought a long time ago I saw a thread about this same problem.. I tried a search but couldnt find it.
Any suggestions?

The sensor fit well on the head and looked great and the plug fit the sensor well too.

 

Where did you get the sensor? It's possibly the wrong one. The PCM water temp and guage temp sensor are different part numbers. I once tried to get the PCM sensor from a parts store, but it was the wrong one and ended up going to the dealer to get the correct one.

 

To test your guage you can supply 12 volts on the connector and the guage should peg.

 

no!!, you ground the gauge, ground is pegged one way and unplugged the other

 

By bad...I could have sworn it was applying 12 volts.

Would thermal paste help for a solid connection?

edit/update: Tested it and it works, thermal paste didnt help though. I was unable to locate the box, but I'm pretty sure it was a borg warner. Any other ideas?

 

What was it you tested, the wire and gauge or the sensor?
