Heater Core

Heater Core
Hey guys,
A few days ago i noticed I had a coolant leak. After checking it out a hose clamp had come loose on one of the lines at the water pump. I fixed this, but then noticed another leak.
I'm thinking its coming from the heater core. In the back of the engine compartment I can see a wet streak that starts below the 2 hoses going to the core through the firewall, but the hoses dont appear to be leaking. The water runs down a panel and actually leaks right before the cat.
I don't get any coolant in the car or coolant smell from the vents.
What do you guys think?
If it is the core is it worth it to replace it or just bypass it?
Thanks

I took mine out and poured hot water into the holes to se if it would steam and mine steamed all over the place real bad, when I did this to the new one it did'nt steam at all, you could try tis and see if its bad, it takes about 20 minutes to pull, very very easy actually. You should be smelling coolant inside and I would also think it would be leaking inside also. You could bypass the core and attach the two hoses together and see if it still leaks, this will also tell you if its the core or hoses. I suppose if the core is really clogged it might force coolant out the hose, but I doubt this is the case. I use my heat every once in a while during summer, so for me its nice to have around, so I would fix the problem and keep your heat working
