car smokes after wot!!!!
car smokes after wot!!!!
The car never smokes untill i punch it and then let off and smoke comes up from my console. I stoped once while it was smoking and poped the hood and no smoke was coming from the engine. I am thinking that i am burning oil. It looks like it is coming from the tranny/clutch area. Yall got any ideas?
You have the intake manifold leak? Maybe you have oil coming out under higher oil psi (ie when you floor it the psi goes up and the oil comes out faster or with more volume). My car doesnt smoke but after a hard run when i stop i can smell burning oil. Just a thought though...
What does it smell like? Oil? It could even be a rear main seal leak getting oil on your clutch. When you stomp it the oil soaked clutch may slip a little, get hot, and burn some of the oil off. Or you could have a leak at the rear of the intake, or even the valve covers, though it would have to be a pretty good leak to cause smoke to come up through the console. Another thing I would check is for the tranny itself leaking, maybe at the input shaft onto the clutch, or some other seal getting fluid on your exhaust pipes.
One more thought---Tire smoke?
Hope this helps a little. ---J.Bird

I think if I were you before I went through all the trouble of pulling the intake and replacing the gaskets I would at least make sure that it's leaking.
Get your car up on ramps, jackstands, over a pit, or on a lift somewhere and just check it over really good to see where the leak is from. It may be kind of difficult to tell, especially the way oil gets all over everything, but if it's leaking enough for smoke to come up through the console while driving, it's bound to be pretty obvious.
One more thing, if you find out that your clutch has been oil soaked, go ahead and replace it once you're sure that the leak has been fixed. I've always heard that oil will soak a clutch disc, ruin it, and won't ever burn completely off. This of course isn't true of vehicles w/a wet clutch system like most motorcycles.
The people on this board are very helpful, I'm sure they'll get you straightened out.
Best of luck, and keep us posted.
