Are heads worth it?

Well the motor is almost out. I have the cc305, 1.6 rr, new springs, hardened pushrods, retainers, roller lifters etc. Im am also putting new rings and bearings in the bottom end. My question is if I should bother getting a set of edelbrock heads? What sort of hp gains would come from them? Im thinking edelbrock because of the price. Funds are a little low after buying all that. For tuning should I get a madz28/pcmforless tune or should I go with a dyno tune? What would give me best results and whats an estimated dyno time to tune my car(95 z28 m6)

I would have the stock ones worked...I think for the money you'll get better results...

I'd say settle down for a little while and enjoy your new combo. It's going to be a lot of fun once it's all sorted out/tuned.

For a cc305, the mail order guys pretty much have that tune dialed in, you'll likely be fine with one of them.

While you're enjoying the new set up, do yourself a favor and research ported & polished stock heads from either Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction. For the $ you'd spend on a new set of Edel's, you'd get muuuuch more power out of either one of these shops.

Re: Are heads worth it?

The Edelbrock heads are only very slightly different than the stock LT1 heads... same intake runner volume, same intake valve diameter, same combustion chamber volume. Only the exhuast valve is slightly larger. They are not worth even their low price, IMHO. An LE1 head port for $800 will run circles aroung the Edelbrocks.
