heads the same?

i have a 1993 camaro and the motor will be pulled in the next few months.

i believe i have iron heads,correct?,
i came across a set of aluminum lt1 heads from a 1996 engine. are these heads exactly interchangable or are any bolts or holes in different places?can i use these instead when my engine is rea-assembled?

also, what kind of weight savings would aluminum heads offer over my stock iron ones?

thanks for any help in advance

Nope, you've got aluminum heads.

All F-body LT1's came with aluminum heads...

Unless someone swapped in a Caprice/Impala/Roadmaster/Fleetwood LT1 somewhere down the line in your car's life.

An easy way to test if your heads are iron or aluminum is to use a magnet.

If the magnet "sticks" they're iron. If it doesn't, they're aluminum.

The aluminium and iron LT1 will interchange without a problem. The weight is roughly 40 lb for iron and 20 lb for aluminium per head.
