Headers with stock muffler

I'm looking to reduce the decibel level of my car. I've gotten used to the comforts of a modern quiet exhaust.

any running long tube with a stock muffler? Curios how it sounds. If there are other setups that are more quiet - ie, long tubes, cat, specific muffler, etc. That sound clean and arent loud, if be very interested to know what you're running.

I think that a stock muffler is 2-5/8" inlet.

You can try the the old school sleeper trick of running four mufflers with what you have. It isn't worth running headers through a stock exhaust. .

Put a 3” Borla XR-1 race muffler in the intermediate pipe, or bolt one to each collector. I ran them on the collectors of my headers and they definitely toned down the drone of my Mufflex 4” catback with the 4” Flowmaster race muffler.

Very interesting idea.

What are your thoughts on running a hi flo cat and this muffler after collectors and into my magnaflow muffler? I mean, I want new gen Camaro ZL1 sound, not the loud sound I loved when I got this car nearly 20 years ago

Not familiar w/ the ZL1 sound. But it probably won’t be easy to replicate the sound of a supercharged engine with a different firing order than our LT1.

My “street” exhaust had a 3” CarSound cat bolted to each collector. But I couldn't run cats on the track with highly leaded racing fuel. For the track, cats dropped out and were replaced with the Borla XR-1’s. The exhaust had to meet the local track's sound limit of 90dB at 100-ft under full power. But I tended to just leave the Borlas in place for the small amount of street driving the car saw.

Eventually I removed the 4” Mufflex system (weight reduction) and ran straight pipes from the Borlas to turndowns in front of the rear axle. The turndowns were angled inwards to keep the noise under the car.

The buyer has put up a couple videos that show the results of the final configuration. I'll have to find the links

Sorry I wasn't more specific. Not looking for the sound of a new ZL1, but i meant more along the lines of decibel level/tone. Moderm Vettes and high end Camaro's come with a nice sound from the factory and i'm looking for that moreso than a loud exhaust.
