Wanting to Quiet Down Exhaust
Wanting to Quiet Down Exhaust
Ok, I've had this exhaust for a while and it's time for a change. It's nice and loud but a little too loud now I'm deciding and the car isn't fast enough to be that loud anyhow, truthfully.
Anyways, I've got a tsp rumbler that I switched out with a classic chambered powerstick because I listened to someone who thought they knew what they were talking about but it sounded the exact same. I should have known then when my muffler guy looked at me funny when I asked him to do the swap. I then added two short body 12" cherry bomb glasspacks just before the tips (stock z28 tips) and it did take just enough of the edge off....for the time being. Then after the muffler guy took enough of my money he said, if you want to quiet it down you'll have to put a traditional style muffler in there. That was a long time ago and now I'd like to give it a shot.
I'm not sure if this will do much different or if it'll be a clearance issue:

What do you think? If not in place of the chambered muffler in the middle, maybe get two in place of the the glasspacks before the tips?
Let me be clear, I don't want it quiet....just quieter.

muffler
Sound levels---the local P.D. is looking for noisy cars-it's an easy ticket. I saw in a Chev mag article where it was, Suggested, that they use a stock muffler, remove the 2-1/2" inlet tube and weld in a 3" connector, keeping everything else stock( on a stock muffler).
I have a 3" SS Corsa cat back and it is very noisy. I have added a 3" Moroso Spiral flow after the cat and it helps, some, also added a Magnaflow cone after the cat, not much help.
My local muffler shop suggested that I wrap the outer shell of my Corsa with an additional layer of metal, which I did. This has helped me the most in quiteing the car.
Another suggestion I got, was to add a couple of Cherry Bomb type of mufflers on the outlet sides of the muffler.
I wonder if the new Corvette muffler would would work. Or maybe the Porshe's.
The constant drone on mine is forcing me to return to the OEM muffler. I can't believe that someone cannot make a hi-performance muffler that is STOCK sounding.
