For '94 and '95 year LT1's, the cat stays in the stock location, and all the emmisions hookups are there. I have all my emmisions stuff hooked up (expect my rear 02's, since I have a '97 and used the MAC '94-'95 mids). I also changed my catback to the '94-'95 style Hooker catback.

What does your state require for smog/emmisions? Here in Michigan, we don't have smog or emissions check ups. We're lucky.

Jet hot sells the MAC's for $619.00 shipped with silver coating. Im leaning more towards them after all the useful tips from this thread.

Well lets just say I live in Southern California, so it's very hard to get away with things.

By the way I have a 1993 Z28, and I remember some exhaust shop telling me that anything that moves the cat from the stock location is illegal. I'm hoping that what you said about the midlengths is true because then I would be able to pass inspection. I hope that my year Z28, the cat does not move with mid-lengths, that way I can get some.

Mids won't move your cat.

Re: Headers....SLP, RK sport or MAC

I saw in a response that there are issues with the right side RK sport header rubbing and putting a hole in the AC box.
Does anyone else have any experience with this, could it be just a fluke?

I've never heard that before. When people have that complaint they are usually running 96-97 style headers.

My ASM's (essentially the same) have GREAT clearance everywhere.

Re: Headers....SLP, RK sport or MAC

You might have read my response. I have a 96 model car and used the RK sport single cat style header. My car had 40,000 mile when I put the headers on. I might have used them a thousand mile and ditched them. I bought them used. THey may have been a early design. I switched to SLP single cat style and all issues were resolved. The motor mounts were good so I didn't have any motor sag on that side.

Do you think they were damaged when you bought them used? I cant imagine the engineers screwing that up.
Would you reccomend them if they were new, they seem to be the best bang for the buck.

Re: Headers....SLP, RK sport or MAC

Can anyone get me a pic of TPIS headers mounted? I know a guy on here has them.

Re: Headers....SLP, RK sport or MAC

I don't see how they could be damaged. There were no dents or dings in them. They looked near new. I bought them off a board member that lived nearby. If I was starting from scratch I would probably just buy the pacesetter longtubes. They are actually going cheaper in some cases than the shorty and midlengths. I hear the plug access is average and they tuck well. The only longtube I ever hear clearance issues with is the hooker/jethot.

Re: Headers....SLP, RK sport or MAC

Just got the RK sports and they really look good. It will be a week or so for install. I think I am going to weld up the #1 primary to avoid the common slip fit leak so I will have to unbolt the stering shaft.

Any one have any tips for RK/ASM type headers installtion.
Thanks

I wouldnt weld it. I'd used NAPA exhaust sealant in the big tube.

I also agree on don't weld it up. Just get some good copper RTV and seal up that joint. I have not had any problems with it so far and mine was LOOSE as hell.
