It's "no fun" if you can't hook.
Yeah, I just got rid of the problem, the SRT. It had a 50 trim and plenty of power but wouldnt hook on street tires. With the 3.42s I feel Im launching pretty good with minimal spin but Id just like to have the car pick up alittle faster, thats why I thought about the 3.73s. I figured theyd be better without burning the tires off.

I broke a 7.625" rear that had 2.56s and an open diff with my stock TBI 305 Caprice on 215/75R15 street tires. Sure, it's a heavier car, but that's a LOT weaker than any LT1...

I'd do the headers and get a dyno tune. If you're going to continue to run street tires and a 10 bolt, doing the gears is a waste of money.

I've had my 4:10's for 4 years now and no porblems. I run M/T ET tires on it and the rearend is still holding strong. The key is to have someone know what they are doing when they set your rearend up. If not you will definately have problems later on. Also a rearend girdle will help as well. Just my .02 worth. Vote for the gears since you are obviously taking your time with you car and the gears are fun to drive around with and also get the jump on people from a roll. Get a good set of tires and have fun with it.

i would for sure go with the Longtubes first they will help you out tremendously power wise but 4.10s will also give you the SOP feel but with the sacrafice of a few MPGs.

Well Tick Performance will be do the gears. They have some nice cars and I believe theyd set it up right. If I do headers I may tackle them myself. I like installing as much as I can and it would save me a few hundred.

headers. without a doubt. sure, gears are fun and theres definately a sotp gain and well as a better et. Headers just add power, and you'll get the same if not better mileage. My car is a daily driver. I could be biased.
