Headers do not line up.
Headers do not line up.
mac mid lengths. bought used, so i know they fit on a car before. The passenger side will not line up with a gasket, and it will not bolt up to the car. The rear most bolt toward the firewall... It's like that rear primary is up like 1/4" too much toward the front of the car.
I'm sure I'm not the first to have this happen. What did you guys do?
And no, I didn't thread the other bolts in, I got the first one started, closest to the front of the car, then moved to the back to get that one started, and it wasn't going in. Super stumped...

That because the LT1 heads have a seven bolt flange. There are only six bolt holes that you use. Your gasket will line up with the holes you will be using and leave a extra one down at the end all by its self. Pull the header back away from the engine and have a look at what I am talking about.
Enjoy your headers!

Re: Headers do not line up.
Yeah I saw that bolt, that's not the one I'm trying to get it into. It's not even close to that one actually.... I'm going into the right hole, I'm pretty sure of it...
Oh yeah, the rear primary doesn't line up with my gasket either...

Re: Headers do not line up.
If it was made for a LT1 and it was lined up before then it will/should line up. If your using autozone stock gasket then they aren't gonna line up exactly, there will be a bolt/hole at the front of the heads (front of car) that is not goin to be used, so everything is pushed back to the next hole but all the ports should match.
Re: Headers do not line up.
Make sure you are lining up to the correct holes first.
Since they are used, they may be a little warped from the previous owner. The MAC's do not have a continious flange (one of the very few drawbacks of MAC's), so they can warp from car to car. If they are not coated, You could probably take them to a muffler shop and have them heat up that primary and bend it into position. I would not try to horse it on the car like it is, by torquing down the header bolt really tight. The LT1 heads are aluminum and may not like that.
