headers or cam???

Ok, i finally sold my LT's due to the stupid a@@ CA laws about smog and all that...so i was wondering what i should do. Use the money from the headers i just sold and buy a LT4 hotcam kit, with the rockers, springs etc. or buy a set of shorties. I know i should get more HP from the cam, but would it be stupid to get a CAM without headers? Thanx for some info.

Go with the headers, If oyu can find some niced used ones cheap you can probably afford the cam soon too.

Do you have a single cat 95 or a dual cat. In either case i would get the headers because without those you would probably be disapointed with your cam. You can probably get away with some mid length headers. Most places won't really check for relocated cats as long as you have them there.

Since you live in California and have a 95 I would believe that you have a dual cat car. So, pretty much your only option is to go with SLP shorties. They are the only dual cat header that is 50 state emissions legal. You'll need your factory y pipe too.

The best mids are the as&m headers. They are pretty pricey and they only come for single cat cars. If you have dual cats you can either buy the random technology dual cat y-pipe or convert to a single cat.

Yeah but i don't think he has been here the whole time because if so i don't think he would of had the LT's. By his name i'm assuming he is in the military. But i can be wrong.

if your home of record isnt in california, then you should only have to get it emmision tested where you come from.. or at least that's the way it worked for me.. (I was in NC not Cali)

You can find them at tbyrne.com or thunderracing.com. They are a lot more expensive if you got the dual cat car because you gotta buy the random tech dual cat y pipe. Or you have to convert to a single cat which is what i'm gonna do.

If I lived out there and had to meet those tough emmissions tests every two years I think I'd swap my stock manifolds/y pipe back in just for emmissions, every year is one thing but two years isn't too bad. Although if you're not doing the work yourself I can see it being expensive.

Im thinking the same question and asked a few mechanics and they say that a cam would be better but then i asked why not headers first they couldnt give me a strait answer. They just answer well it wont give you the power you want by just adding headers. I just wanted to say " DUH DOOFUS".
