Headers and Borla

I wanted to know what headers sound best with Borla exhaust.I've heard stories about long tubes sounding horrible when matched with this exhaust.

My Borla sounds Ok with my longtubes if I use the cats, but without them it gets very raspy.

Talking

As you know a exhaust sound is something that may sound great to one person and sound like ---- to another. I got the Mac headers with the Borla, when my wife drives off in my car it doesnt sound the way i had hoped, ( i've heard better),but when im on the road and stomp down on it, i wish i was outside to hear what it sounds like cuz it sounds nice on the inside. I do get compliments on how good my car sounds sometimes. Dwayne

Yeah I know it will change person to person, but I don't think anyone likes the sound of hooker long tubes and a wide open borla lol.

A friend of mine has a 95 Trans Am with LT4 cam, ported heads, Jet Hots and Borla. No cats. He also got a custom chip (that alone changed the way his car sounded) His car sounds absolutely phenominal . Most of the people you here complaining about LT/Borla or Loud mouth set-ups are all from LS1 cars.

It's my opinion that even a stock LT1 sound's 100% better than any LS1 regardless of it's exhaust. LS1's sound like

There's no such thing as a bad sounding LT1

I already have the borla and the LT4 cam, same as my friend but also have ported/polished heads. My LT's are waiting to be installed this spring. Can't wait.

yes

I have the hooker longtubes and car sounds so diffrent, The guys that installed my headers are like wow we never heard an lt1 sound like that, and they mostly work on ls1 vettes and f-bodys...

But I have to tell you, it will get on your nerves inside sometimes when you want peace an quiet....

Whats up Lance? I use to post on the old RKsport board. How is your car going? I remember along time ago when i had my 98 V6 Camaro you did a LT1 swap. As your question, from my experience here in town niether shorties or Longtubes sound "that" good when combined with Borla. For some reason I dont know my Longtubes made my old Flowmaster catback sound even more crappy. It makes it raspy for some reason. The only great sounding catback that doesnt have rasp that i've heard combined with LT's and shorties is the Hooker catback. I Have no experience with others.

Niice. I need to start working on my "looks" now. Although I do like the sleeper look when racing. But i've been tryin to stay away from the street racing. A 383 would be awesome. I've been researching some things on what step I wanna go towards next. Im leaning toward a Turbo stroker. Im nowhere near that area money wise so it will be a while. Good luck witht he 383.
