Headers banging on floorboard...remedies?

Let's hear some remedies to eliminate LT headers banging on the floorboard.

Mine do just a little bit...but it is worse because if it is not hitting sharply, it is moving just close enough to vibrate against the heat-shield/floorpan as the engine revs up. Sounds NASTY and feels...pretty good! Just kidding. Serously, it is pretty rough to hear and does it only when I really get into it, which makes flooring it less fun.

What are your methods?

I had this problem with my FLP's (surprise ) and finally after much aggrivation, I tried the method that FLP told me on the phone. I used a bigass pry bar and just pried down on the collector. The car was on jackstands and I used wood blocks against the bottom of the car as a fulcrum and I used a JACK to lift the prybar handle. I had to bend the pipe down really far (about 3 inches) because the motor mounts give a couple inches before the pipe bends. In the end the Y pipe had dropped another 1/2 inch and so it stopped rubbing the floor.

A few months later I installed poly motor mounts and tranny mount. They hold everything in place so well that I bet I wouldn't have needed to bend the pipe at all.

I suppose bending would be ok as long as you don't kink the tubing.

But it is not an LT1 specific issue is it, assjack?

I mean...all you LT1 guys scream about how we LS1 guys think you are inferior and all that, yet when one of us "high and mightly" LS1 guys come to you "slow and outdated" LT1 guys for advice we get an attitude for our plea for help.

Who is the arrogant ones now? Hmmm? Huuuh?

Besides, I am god here. I can do as I like. Do not question me or your account wil be swiftly terminated.

Hehehe...

Seriously, I know some LT1 guys had the same problem and I know people could benefit from the solutions in both forums...including me!

Cut up some High Temp Silicone Tubing and mount it floor where the headers are touching. I had to do this with my Mufflex y-pipe when I had Hooker LT's on my car

Yeah. I'm wondering if I'm going to have interference issues with my Jet Hots too. Only time shall tell.

Who knows? One thing I have learned is that with headers you can never tell. Some headers fit great on some cars, yet the same set of headers will fit like crap on a different but identical year and model of f-car.

I think it is luck of the draw.

I gott thank my dumbass future brother-in-law for that one. We were shopping at Home Depot and he called me that. I nearly peed my pants laughing right there in the electrical aisle. At that time I wished we were in the plumbing aisle. But anyway...

My Jet-Hots fit quite well and do not bang. I only have open headers at the moment to. I guess its up to my custom y-pipe on fitment.

That sucks about bending FLPs to stop banging. I wouldnt want to spend $1200 for headers then have to bend the collector.

Although your car is newer, could motor mounts be an issue? I know mine bang around a bit due to the old saggy factory mounts. If I ever get the ambition maybe I'll crawl under the car and replace them
