headers\long block install question

A quick question regarding header and head installation. I currently have the engine out of my 96 TA-M6, and will be reinstalling in as a long block (without the intake) thru the top of the engine area. I am also installing new Hooker LT's with the engine install. My question is this: Can I lay the headers in then set the block(with heads) in after the headers? It sure will be easier to install the headers this way. I know if this was a short block, the headers would probably be in the way on the lower head bolts. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

From my experience, lay the headers in there and then install the long block.

But I bolted everything together and installed from the bottom.

Thanks, I'm not sure on clearance and don't want to bang up my new coating.

towels can be your friend. wrap the headers each in a towel and tape it so it doesn't fall off.
