header wrap.. in a different place

if i were to lay header wrap on my valve covers would i be risking valvetrain damage? i'm on a quest to lower the temperature under the hood but i don't want to wrap the headers.

would this hold in too much heat into the engine? i'm doing a complete coolant flush, i have a 160deg fan switch, and i'll probably throw in some water wetter also.

what about wrapping the radiator hoses?

or is that just crazyiness.

thanks!

wrap

why don't you want to wrap the headers. It would be pretty pointless to wrap the other things as they dont really give off any more radiant heat the engine itself, the headers are one of the main things giving off heat, thats one of the reasons you wrap them.

i bought some slps that were wrapped and when i took them off they had quite a bit of rust that i am sure wouldn't of been there with out the wraps. Nothing sandblasting wouldn't of fixed but probably a year or two more with that wrap on would of ruined them.

I would say to buy some JetHot coated headers but after almost 2 months of dealing with them I still can't get the parts i need.

Take a look at airborne coatings.
