What kind of header gasket are you using?

I use Felpro.

i had that same problem with the stock gaskets that came with my hooker headers. i swapped them for Mr. Gasket ultraseals and tightened THE HELL outta the bolts and havent had any trouble since.

could also be the primary not welded good enough or even a collector flange or missing collector bolts. hope this helps

no

it is not comming from the header gasket or the flages it is comming from where the primary tube slides in to the rest of the header the part that you have to slide on i think it is the #1 primary tube....it is leaking because there isnr a tight fit is there some kind of gaket i can put in ther?

How do you know it's coming from there? I thought mine was from there, so I poured some dish soap on it and NO BUBBLES, sealed tightly.

Take the header out of the car, bolt it to another head and get it welded. Then, remove the steering shaft, install the header, then put the steering shaft back in. I have the same problem with my Random Technology headers. I just haven't taken the time to fix it. If you know somebody with a tiny welder and crackhead arms they might be able to weld it on the car, but I doubt it.

So its where the collector meets the header?? Well just go to and get an idea of the diameter of the collector and go to Autozone and buy a doughnut gasket! That oughtta solve that problem! ....atleast ur not where i am and have all 7 of the 8 hearder bolts out and 1 left that the head of the bolt is completely stripped!!!! I cut a deep slit in the bolt to try and work it out with an offset screw driver but still no luck, and its been weeks now.

He's actually talking about the #1 primary tube. AS&M style header designs allow for the removal of the #1 tube from the other three (3,5,7) for installation around the steering shaft. The steering shaft passes between the #1 and #3 tubes. The back of the driver's side header comes in from the bottom, and the #1 tube comes in from the top seperately.
