Recheck your parts list over and over. It sucks having to stop in the middle because you are missing something. Be sure to have the EGR and AIR blockoffs, gaskets, bolts and if you are taking your oil cooler off be sure to have the bypass tube. While you are there you might as well replace the plugs and wires. Also be ready to struggle with the dipstick tube, a trick to get it back in is to use sandpaper and shave some material off the tube near the bottom.
Other than that get the front end up as high as you can and just take your time.

The install would probably cost more than 300-400 too, 753 for me, they only charged me for half the labor they did, because they said a lot of the time was just trying to figure out how they wanted to do it.

You paid 700+ for installing a pair of long tubes I would have done it for 699

Have access to a good set of tools!

It's really nice to have flexable extentions, impact gun etc.. and having someone there is always helpful.

i just did mine friday, but i cheated and did them while i was putting the engine and tranny in.

i would watch the clearance on the crossmember, and one problem i had was the A/C line, and had to bend it down a little.

and the driverside where the slip tube goes around the steering shaft gets pretty close. i didnt have a problem with it but a know people that have.

I would have tried to tackle it myself, but my lack of tools and none of my friends where around to help, so my dad said to take it to the shop. It was a little more expensive because of some new sensors and a dipstick.

Go ahead and remove the steering linkage.... it will provide alot of well-needed space.

easy on the old rusted header bolts..breaking even one off in the head will set u back..grease down ALL bolts a whole night b4..just sawz all the old y off.. use a swivel type rachet with an extension...breaker bar and break the bolts from y to manifolds..i used grips to loosen dipstick then used a screwdriver and hammer on the little lip of the dipstick and hammered up while someone atop pulled... check out my domain 4 a little on my MAC mid install..LT's will prolly be harder..take ur time and have a 12pack of old pile at hand. u'll prolly have to fug with the motor mounts 4 LT's. ur hands will look like u got in a bar fight when u r done
