Header install

Doing the header install on Monday, just wondering if there's any last minute tips or advice for installing the Jet-Hots to make it easier on me. Thanks for any input

take your time. be prepared to lift the motor a little (not hard). and dont let yourself get bothered too easily, it is trying on your patience. also, might as well replace plugs wires etc, and above all, take lots of pics and try to have fun.

Take your time, and dont become frustrated...you might think a certain part is impossible but there are a ton of people who have done exactly what your doing and have been stuck too...you can pull through. Try taking a break somewhere in there get some good and rest. I noticed as i was finishing up i tended to want to get done alot faster which meant cutting corners and later having to go back and correcting the problem which made it alot hard on me....good luck...its a great time!

Also lift the car as high as you can so you can do alot of finangling. The pass side header is the bugger.

Have some zip-ties on hand. You will need them to hold wires away from the headers. This thing came in very useful as well:

Thermostat is a piece of cake. However long you think it will take double it haha. Hard to get the oil tube back in with the head install. Also do you have ovc wires if so might want to get the heat sleeves I didn't and my wires are arcin and needs to be fixed

Here's a little trick i'll share about the dipstick. Since it always leaks after removal as everyone says, I chose to cut mine near the base with a dremel tool and slip fit it back together with a length of rubber hose after the install. No leaks...and takes some 'headache' out of the header install.

I've got about 19 hours into my install. All I have left to do is the OVC taylor wires and put the alternator back on. Everything else is done. Since I had to lift the motor anyways, I removed the frame and motor mounts and sandblasted them and painted them with engine paint(red). Also got red poly motor mounts. There a lot more visible with headers instead of manifolds. I took my time and put 2-3 hours in at a time, but it was extremely frustrating at times. Heres the stuff I can think of off the top of my head that I used for my install:

Felpro 1406 gaskets.
ARP polished stainless header bolts.
o2 extensions(I soldered my own).
Taylor OVC wire kit.
NGK TR6 plugs(nitrous).
Energy suspension Poly motor mounts.
Tie Wraps(already had them).

I'll probably think of more as soon as I submit this...
