Exclamation Header bolts!! NEED help!!

Well I can not get all of my header bolts to go in on the passenger side. I am installing pacesetter coated long tubes. I can usualy get like one or two bolts in but thats about it. ANY tips highly appreciated. And how did you guys get the very front one in there.

I got a thin punch and put it through the header bolt hole and the hole in the head to align the two. It also helps to have a second pair of hands to hold the header steady from up top. While they are holding it, then work the bolts in from underneath the car.

i just installed the same headers on my 95 z. i had the same problem. they WILL go in, everything has to be lined up perfect. getting the front in wasn't that bad, it was the second one i had problems with.

Well it looks like the motor mount is keeping it from getting lined up strait....which doesnt seem right at all. I am kinda out of ideas here. But I'll keep on trying.

yep you need to keep trying. I did this myself too the other day, it's definately a PITA but is doable by yourself. Just have lots of patience and get the perfect angle and they will all fit. On the very first header bolt for alternator brace I had to use original bolt with some washers to space it so my alternator bracket would still fit right, maybe that's just me. It will work just don't get discouraged and break anything and it will come together lol.

Re: Header bolts!! NEED help!!

its a game of patience. the header bolts were the worst part of the install in my opinion. felt like smashing **** when dealing with the bolts. but just take your time and dont let it beat you.

Do you guys think I should go ahead and take the passenger side motor mount out again to try and get a good angle to put the header bolts in?

well, i have no idea why you would wanna go and do that. when i put mine in i was sitting right on top of the motor and was able to get one hand all the way inside to a lower primary and hold it up to the angle and with the other hand line up the gasket and put the bolts in. not that it was easy, cause it wasnt. you have to really use your hands to the best of your ability and more.

Re: Header bolts!! NEED help!!

Ok, well I ended up taking the motor mount back out, just the top half. And I got the bolts all lined up FINALY. But the bolts in the center just do not like to go in all the way...So I guess I am just gonna put some washers in there or somthing and use the breslins bolts on those. I dont think they will back out with the locking bolts anyways....But thanks for the replys guys. I will keep updateing.

Re: Header bolts!! NEED help!!

I just did the install of pacesetter LTs this weekend on my car. I had pulled the passanger side valve cover and was able to get all the bolts in, only problem i had was the very 1st spark plug didnt wanna go in cuz of the primary in the way but it finally went in. Now my y-pipe doesnt fit to my magnaflow exhaust, its 3 inches too long after being installed all the way on the driver side header.
