Header bolts

This is my first post on this forum. I just got done installing some Jet Hot long tubes and was wondering what you guys suggest for header bolts. My kit didn't come with any. I currently have the headers sitting in place with my Edelbrock header bolts, but they seem to be rubbing on the primaries. In addition, they are rather long and a complete nightmare to work with on the Jet Hots since the primaries are so much larger than the Edelbrocks. Thanks a bunch guys!

Re: Header bolts

I used the ARP header bolts on my Pacesetters. Worked really well, they have a smaller 5/16 head that has much better access than the "stock" bolts that came with the headers.

Re: Header bolts

Had ARPs on the Jet Hots on my old car... worked awesome, and wrench/socket access is sick.

Jegs has them: Part #:070-400-1210, Kinda pricey at $30.00 but they do a good job. I bought mine at a local high performance store, if there is one close to you they should carry them as well.

Yeah, thanks a ton! I was going crazy trying to get those others in there. I finally had to walk away and wait for something better, because these weren't happening!

No prob! I about threw a wrench across the garage trying to put the bolts in that came with the headers. These were MUCH easier, >30min install for all 6 vs. 1.5 hours or so with the stock bolts.

Re: Header bolts

Did it take about 30 minutes per side?

Re: Header bolts

Yeah, about 30 mins or so to get everything torqued and ready to go. I was doing a gasket swap, so the headers were already in place, just had to swap gasket and bolts. It took much longer with the stock bolts because I had to use an open ended wrench instead of a socket.

Re: Header bolts

You guys were right! Man the ARP bolts made the install easy. I had all of the bolts in and torqued down within 45 minutes! Great advice people...
