header bolt broke

header bolt broke

inside the block on my friends T/A!! its right by the #5cylinder, everything else is tightened down, but its starting to make that ticking kindof sound cuz its leaking now...does anybody know and estimate of how much it would cost to get it fixed?? and if youre in NJ any good places to go

do you think you guys could fix it? You could maybe weld a nut on the end and just screw it off, or something?

You should be fine because there aren't header bolts that go into the block.

did it snap off flush with the head? or is it in a little ways?

yeah if it's flush w/ the header flange then you may be able to take the header off and put a mean pair of vice grips to get it off. if it's flush w/ the block you will have to get it drilled out. since it's on the drivers side there may be enough room to do it w/out pulling the head.

try using a bolt extractor. if they are long tube headers you would probably will have enough room to get to it

yeh its maybe a 1/16" into the block, he has hooker long tubes Im not shure if we have the room though

time to weld a nut to the bolt and take them out with a pair of vice grips.
