Angry Header Bolt Argghhhhh

Alright i've learned my lesson about how much to torque(stainless steel) Header bolts. Now i've been try to get this last header bolt out now for a week (so i can replace the sh*tty BBK gasket for a new GM one!!) This thing is stripped! Anyone know or have any suggestions to help??? its the 4 bolt (i believe) from the front on the driverside, right infront of No. # 3 exhuast port. Remember space is limited!!

Damn man. I know they have stripped bolt extractors that are kind of like a socket and it has vanes inside that are made of hardened steel. When you screw it onto the bolt head it cuts into the bolt. You can pick a set up at sears for a few bux. I have BBK headers and when the shop was installing them they said one of my old bolts was seized into the head and broke off
But BBK header flanges are thick enough to run with one bolt missing. Good thing it is an inner one and not the outermost. Good luck man. If worse comes to worse you are going to have to lift the engine a little to get at it good. Damn squeezed in 350's

That should be the 3rd bolt from the front. In front of the #3 exhaust port? At least you ahve some room to work. Imagine if it were behind the #8 port! Vice grips? Cut a hole in the head and use offset flathead? Force a smaller socket on? Most of all though, a lot of patience. Stay cool, and you will get it. Good luck...

drill it and tap it with a left hand tap.. then put a left hand bolt in there and when tightening the left hand bolt, it will be looseing the other bolt. I have done this several times, usually works great. Just make sure you use a real strong bolt so that one doesnt break off

It's a pita to mess with that puppy in the car no doubt.. I'd try to file down two sides so you'd at least have a couple of flat sides, squirt with some break free, try a combo if it feels like its gonna give try one of the smaller robo wrench's.. I thought they were junk when they came out but they have helped me a get a stuck bolt or two out.. if you snap that head off your looking at major surgery.. if you have access to a wirefed welder it is sometimes easier to just weld a heavy grade nut to the top of the bolt and wrench it out that way.. the weld will slightly expand the threads in the head and when it cools down it will break loose most of the time..
